4G technology approaching telemedicine application scenario expansion

Recently, Dai Xiaohui, deputy inspector of the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, revealed in the “2013 New Generation Broadband Wireless Mobile Communication Development Forum” that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is preparing to issue 4G licenses and 4G spectrum allocation. Many industry insiders predict that 4G licenses are expected to be issued in the fourth quarter at the earliest.

In the 4G era, existing smart mobile terminals will face a new revolution. The theoretical transmission speed of the fourth generation mobile communication system can reach 100Mbps to 150Mbps, which will reach 50 times of the current 3G standard transmission speed.

From 3G to 4G, not only is the Internet faster, but it allows many industries to break the limits and expand all imaginable work lifestyles wirelessly.

In the medical field, the popularity of smart terminals, the upgrade of mobile phone sensing technology, the improvement of cloud computing infrastructure, and the improvement of the information infrastructure of medical institutions are all changing the traditional form of medical services. Medical care is expected to be more intelligent and convenient.

At the same time, as China's aging is increasing, the contradiction between supply and demand between high-quality medical resources and the people's increasing demand for health services is growing. On the one hand, large general hospitals are difficult to queue, difficult to register, and difficult to see; on the other hand, a large number of communities and local medical institutions that should be functioning are not highly utilized, resulting in waste of medical resources.

The breakthrough in technology, the expansion of the application scenario of telemedicine , may provide a more efficient way of resource allocation.

As early as the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, many medical institutions in Shanghai used telemedicine technology to enable timely and effective diagnosis and treatment of seriously injured people thousands of miles away. However, telemedicine has not been developed very quickly, the development of the industrial chain is not complete, and the quality of communication cannot be guaranteed. The 4G network can meet the real-time transmission of various data and live images, which greatly improves the quality of telemedicine services.

In June this year, Jiangsu Mobile and Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital jointly launched the “Mobile Telemedicine System”. The system relies on 4G technology TD-LTE to realize real-time digital acquisition and long-distance video transmission of high-definition contrast images of coronary heart disease and real-time access consultation of multiple mobile terminals of high-definition images. Because the diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease must be based on high-definition angiography as the basis for diagnosis and treatment, the image data is huge and the amount of information is rich. The traditional remote consultation can not realize the real-time, clear and convenient transmission of the intervening image data. Under this system, any hospital in the country can be connected. Experts don't have to visit the site. Just watch the real-time medical video screen remotely, and then remotely instruct the doctor to perform on-site surgery. The industry believes that this system is a breakthrough in the development of medical care in China.
