Monitoring pregnancy health data using Ovuline to obtain $10 million in venture capital
Ovuline, a company that monitors women's pregnancy-related data and aims to help women improve their conception rate, has announced that it has received $10 million in venture capital. This round of investment was led by investment institutions Martin Ventures, Zaffre Investments and the health insurance company Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, including Ovia's previous investors such as Lightbank Ventures, LionBird Ltd and Bullet Time Venture. Currently, the company name has been changed from "Ovuline" to "Ovia Health" and its mobile app name is "Ovia".
Founded in June 2012, Ovuline collects data on women's conception through health tracking devices and mobile apps, such as basal body temperature, cervical fluid analysis, ovulation test results, physical symptoms, emotional conditions, and sleep and weight. Factors such as nutrient intake and daily activities are based on computer-analyzed data analysis to accurately predict women's ovulation period, thereby increasing women's conception rate. Different from other mobile health applications, Ovuline not only supports manual input of data, but also supports self-quantitative devices like FitBit to automatically collect data, such as sleep cycles. It is understood that through Ovuline, the user's conception rate is twice as high as the national average.
More than just to C, Ovuline is expanding its business to B as a health management and health data company. Currently, its B-end enterprise users include the medical insurance company Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, General Electric, and health care company Optum. Ovuline recently hired Greg Nash, the digital marketing company's Castlight and former vice president of sales for Omada, a chronic disease management company, as its product director. Ovuline CEO Paris Wallace said the funding will be used primarily to create Nash's team to expand Ovuline's business in the enterprise and insurance markets.
